The Enemy Within
I was pretty young then but I remember the Cuban Missle Crisis and the reports about the Arms Race and I remember all of the Nuclear Detonation Tests conducted by both the USA and the Soviet Union. I remember walking around worrying about Radioactive Fallout and at school we used to have Air-Raid Drills. We were taught to get under our desks and to put our left arms over our heads to protect our selves. I'm left-handed so I always put my right arm over my head so if the building caved in and I lived and my arm got hurt, it wouldn't be my writing hand. We also had Paper Drives and all of us kids would bring old newspapers in and put them in a big bin at school. I don't really know what they did with those.
I remember being so scared that I couldn't get to sleep at night and I would pray for a very long time every night that the Russians didn't launch those missles from Cuba at us. I was genuinely terrified that the Nuclear Tests everyone was conducting was causing so much Fallout that I would look at my skin all the time to see if it showed any signs of radiation exposure. I was pretty sure we were all going to die---soon.
When I see that the Socialist Party has now voted to send a resolution to the House Floor in which they sit in judgement, 90 years after the fact, of an extremely vital ally of this nation and have chosen to point the finger of Genocide at Turkey,I feel the need to start praying hard again. Whether this is an accurate description of events following WW1 or not, why are the Democrats on fire to do it now, probably in November? We weren"t involved in it. The Armenians of today were not involved in it and today's Turks weren' either. Who chose Nancy Pelosi and her ilk to pass judgement on a key ally right in the middle of the Terror-War in Iraq?
These people grew up in the same country with the rest of us. They know right from wrong. They know that to bring this issue up at this particular moment in History will inflict grave consequenses on our efforts in Iraq. They know they are endangering the lives of not only our Troops but the Troops of our allies and the lives of civillians in Iraq if they proceed with this inciteful resolution. I believe they are intentionally obstructing our work in Iraq in an effort to cause failure. These people will do anything, no matter who gets hurt, to create failure in Iraq because they think if they can make Bush fail, they will automatically assume power when that's finally accomplished.
My most terrifying memory of the Cold-War was when Kruschef said "We will conquer America without ever firing a shot" . "We will conquer America from within". Now I wonder what Country or what "entity" is controlling people like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Don't You?
